"I wanted to tell you that I have loved reading your reviews and articles and they have made me to be much happier than I was before."
-- anonymous

A relatively quiet month in the mailroom -- what? Don’t you love/hate us anymore, people? -- but still lots of thoughts to share from our lovely, lovely readers…

To kick us off, let’s hear from new reader Luc Pearson, who said:

I stumbled upon GeekSpeak googling for something else and ended up reading your "year one" memoir. I think it's weird but great that I found it interesting since I had never even heard of your zine before. But what really got me curious was all the mentions of your "geek vs. geek" so I tracked down all of your debates from evey issue and i have to say that they are some terrific reads! Even when I am not interested in the topics I really like the way they are argued by your writers. I have never read the inheritance trilogy or seen a twilight movie and i don't care a bit about some season of Buffy or other but I really enjoyed reading the different points of view on them anyway. I think my favorite geek vs. geeks are the Alien vs. Predator one and the Marvel vs. DC movies one. I am curious about what your favorites are?

Our favorite GVGs? Oh, there are so many! But perhaps last month’s Movie Critics: Hot or Not? one was pretty contentious around these parts, as, of course, was Trek! VS Wars! (Don’t forget to check out this month’s debate on Rewatching TV on DVD, and let us know which side you came down on…)

Next up, a rather shorter (but no less welcome) comment from another new reader, one RS, who said:

Hi Geek Speak Magazine.

I love the site! I love the reviews of pre-2011 Tv cartoons.

Cheers, RS

Why, thank you, RS! We’re rather fond of some pre-2011 cartoon reviews ourselves, as you might have noticed. Stay tuned! More to come, without a doubt.

Another short-but-sweet communiqué arrived from Lupdilup, who had this to say:

complement!! oh yea! where is the site feed? need to keep up with the great reviews! I review audiobooks, I just reposted my review of Lover Unleashed, I don't do a lot with the plot, my thing is all about the narration, I always put a link to what I think is good review, and dude! sorry! miss? I want to follow, let me have another way than just a book mark.

Ah, yes, the old RSS Feed discussion. Sorry to be disobliging, Lupdilup, and we know we’re old fashioned, but if a bookmark was okay for our grandparents then surely it is okay for the upcoming generation of young whippersnappers… Kidding! RSS Feed. Check. We’ll get right on that, and get back to you…

Finally this month, we’d like to share with you just a few of the somewhat overwhelming series of comment-cum-vignettes we received from one particularly enthusiastic reader, who has chosen to remain anonymous in his or her feedback (seriously, the name field was filled in “anonymous”), and yet these comments were anything but secretive. Thus:

Hi Geek Speak, I wanted to tell you that I have loved reading your reviews and articles and they have made me to be much happier than I was before. Thank you.

And then the next day:

Hi again Geek Speak, I just read your posting about Supernatural Season 6 and I want to tell you that it made me want to go and watch Supernatural from the very beginning so that I can watch Season 6, through your eyes it is beautiful, and the world is so vivid. Thankyou.

And then, a few days later:

Hello Geek Speak, I wonder if you will ever write back to my messages, or am I just talking to no one?

“Geek Speak” responded:

Hi anonymous! Thank you for taking the time to write to us; we very much appreciate your kind words and hope that you will continue to find our magazine a source of happiness. We certainly do! And yes, please, do watch Supernatural! It’s amazing, the restorative powers of those Winchester boys…

AND THEN!

Geek Speak, thank you for your email, I want you to know that I have been reading since two days all of your Letters sections and I want only to be published in them and to be a part of your publishing, it is what I want to live for to be a part of such a, I think it is called a zine, as yours, so that everyone knows how much I think of your writings and your reviews and all of your good humour. Because I really love it all a lot. Thank you and god bless you.

Well, anonymous, we live only to serve the whims and needs of our beloved readers, and so here you are, in print for all to see (although, we would point out, still unnamed, which may make it difficult for everyone to know how much you think of our writings and our reviews and all of our good humour). Still, we hope that it is everything you ever dreamed!

And a big thank you, as ever, to everyone who wrote in. We can’t publish all of your letters -- especially not all of yours, anonymous, though do keep them coming in! -- but we continue to be honored by each one.

And thank you, thank you, to our awesome subscribers! (Wow, you look amazing! Have you lost weight?)

See you next month!
