Let’s kick off with Rick Katze:
Reading the "Zelazny" issue (I'm another of those NESFA Editors), I note that you are doing a Hugo issue next month. NESFA has published three volumes of Poul Anderson short fiction to date (I am currently working on volume 4, have plans for volume 5...) which will eventually contain all of Anderson's Hugo nominated and winning fiction when completed. Not sure if it figures in what you are doing next month but it seemed worthwhile to mention it. And, as a three time Hugo Administrator, I admit to being curious about what you plan to say. And Dave Grubbs does not need a thirty hour day. I think he needs at least 40 hours in the day...
Thanks, Rick! Hope you like our Hugo choices... Poul Anderson, meanwhile, is due a tribute of his own. We'll get right on it.
More Zelazny-ness, from the aptly-named zelaznyfan...
This Roger Zelazny tribute was terrific! So nice to read what so many well written and dedicated fans and friends of his had to say. Zelazny has been my favorite author since I was 15 and I met him once. That is still one of the best days of my life, including my wedding and the birth of four sons.
Wow... even those of us who've met James Marsters wouldn't go that far. Nice dedication, zelaznyfan.
We're also rather loving the dedication of Manuel de Vega, who joins us from South of the Border... WAY South:
Hello from Argentina! I want you to know that this is my favorite zine on the web. You should update more, but that is my only thing I am not happy with. All is good, and very interesting and very amusing. Thank you and God bless!
Thanks for the kind words, Manuel.
More kind words from Cally Carmen, but not all is good...
I love you, geek speak, but your articles are SOOOOO LONG. Don't you know we're the ADD generation? It's almost time for your next update and I still haven't read all of this month's stuff. I'm up to the comic geek versus geek but keep getting distracted by going to watch the movies. I have now seen Catwoman, and it is really, really awful. Sorry, marvel girl, but dc guy is right on that one.
"marvel girl" responds: I know you are but what am I. Wait... let me try that again: you're rubber and I'm glue... Damn it, I don't have a comeback. No, wait, yes I do: Catwoman's DC!
We move on to this timely complaint from Cinephile...
Your Project Film Geek is a really great read. I am not much interested in Sci-fi and comics but I love film, and I like the way your blogger, Rachel Hyland, writes her very funny synopses and reviews. I only wish it was more frequently updated. It's been a month already and she's still in 1927-28!!! At this rate, I won't live to see her reach this century!!!!
Rachel responds:
Sorry! Those silent films were a bit of a chore to find, and even more of one to watch. The talkies are up next, though, so I'll try to do better. I promise!
(Sheesh! Cranky readers this month, huh?)
And finally, this, from David A. Herrington:
I just met the lovely Rachel Hylander at WorldCon passing out Geek Speak Magazine cards. I am just checking out your website for the first time. I am quite impressed with the David Weber interview. I shall be stopping in on a regular basis from now on. Personal note: David Weber was the toughest author for me to get a autograph from. If staff is interested I can tell the full story at a later date.
Of course staff is interested, David! Send it on in. So says Rachel Hylander (there can be only one).
Our thanks, as always, for all your letters, folks; we can’t print them all, but we cherish every one. Except for the dodgy ones trying to lure us to suspicious sites with spurious tor.com profiles. (Guys, that's low, even for you spammer-types. Cut it out!)
See the rest of you next month!
