Out today is Storks, the worrisomely euphemistic-about-where-babies-come-from animated movie from the folks who brought us The Lego Movie. (But just to be clear: it’s no Lego Movie.)

Out on Tuesday, September 27 are:

WarCraft (2016), based on the wildly popular video game, starring Paula Patton as a barely Orcish half-orc, a mostly wasted Dominic Cooper and Ruth Negga of Preacher and a dead-eyed, deadpan Ben Foster. Not a perfect movie, certainly, but still a lot of fun for even the most casual fantasy fan…

The Neon Demon, horror starring Elle Fanning and Christina Hendricks and directed by the ever-polarizing Nicholas Refn…

The Shallows, a thriller starring Blake Lively and, mostly, the ominous suggestion of a shark. Chilling.

and then there’s Howard Lovecraft and the Frozen Kingdom, an animated film explained thusly:

After visiting his father in Arkham Sanitarium, young Howard Lovecraft ignores his father’s ominous warning and uses the legendary Necronomicon to open a portal to a strange, frozen world filled with horrifying creatures and grave danger. Alone and scared, Howard befriends a hideous creature he names Spot who becomes his companion throughout their treacherous journey across the Frozen Kingdom.

A must-have for all H.P. Lovecraft fans, Howard Lovecraft And The Frozen Kingdom boasts a stellar voice cast; including Academy Award-winner Christopher Plummer (Up), Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Jane Curtin (Antz) and Doug Bradley (Hellraiser) and combines dark, elaborate storytelling with beautiful animation to tell the secret tale that inspired some of Lovecraft’s most famous writings!

So, there you have it.

Happy viewing! Until next week in geek…
